(PRIMASPORT) NAPLES, JULY 3, 2026 – Massimiliano Allegri is the new Napoli coach. The announcement came from president Aurelio De Laurentiis in an Instagram post accompanied by the phrase "Welcome Max" and a photo of the coach wearing the Napoli pin on his lapel. Shortly thereafter, the official announcement was made on the Neapolitan club's website. Allegri has signed a contract until June 30, 2029, valid for the next three seasons.
Three-year deal worth €4.5 million per season
The agreement between Napoli and Allegri includes a three-year contract worth €4.5 million net per season. The Livorno-born coach succeeds Antonio Conte as Italy's coach. This isn't the first time Allegri has succeeded Conte at a major Serie A club. He did so in 2014 at Juventus, when he replaced the current former Napoli coach as the Bianconeri's manager.
Returning to Naples after his experience as a footballer
For Allegri, this also marks a return to Naples, where he played in the 1997/98 season as a player. His coaching career began in 2003/04. In 2007/08, he led Sassuolo to their first historic promotion to Serie B, also winning the Serie C1 Super Cup. He subsequently coached Cagliari in Serie A, earning the Panchina d'Oro award, before moving to AC Milan in 2010.
Successes with Milan and Juventus
With AC Milan, Allegri won a Scudetto and an Italian Super Cup. From 2014 to 2019, he led Juventus, winning five consecutive Scudettos, four Italian Cups, and two Italian Super Cups. With the Bianconeri, he also reached two Champions League finals. Returning to Juventus after two years, he won another Italian Cup in 2024. Last season, he coached AC Milan again, finishing the league in fifth place. Napoli thus begins a new coaching cycle, entrusting itself to one of the most successful Italian coaches of the last fifteen years. (PRIMASPORT)
