(PRIMASPORT) LECCE The Independent Commission for the Verification of the Economic and Financial Balance of Professional Sports Clubs has expressed a favorable opinion on suspending the salary of the player Lameck Banda, who has been unavailable for the past few months. The decision, announced on October 19, 2026, followed a request submitted by US Lecce and also forwarded to the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
The Commission, while emphasizing that, as a general rule, pending litigation does not in itself preclude financial obligations for the purposes of club controls, acknowledged that, under the Collective Agreement between the FIGC/Lega Serie A/Associazione Italiana Calciatori (Italian Footballers' Association), specific conditions such as unavailability may justify the suspension of wage payments.
This opinion, the first requested directly by a club subject to supervision under the rules introduced by the 2021 Legislative Decree, represents an important precedent and confirms the applicability of Article 5.2.13 of the collective agreement in specific cases such as Banda's. (PRIMASPORT)
