SAN BENEDETTO DEI MARSI - Filippo D'Aiuto defied the odds and, in a stage that seemed destined for sprinters, accomplished a veritable feat, crowning a nearly 130-kilometer breakaway with flying colors. The General Store - Essegibi - F.lli Curia rider had broken away from the pack at kilometer 30, accompanied by Manuel Oioli, Giacomo Garavaglia, Michele Pascarella, Jack Makohon, and Omer Ramon. After building a maximum lead of 4:35, the leading sextet began to fall apart. D'Aiuto initially accelerated alongside Oioli, and then, with 14 kilometers to go, he set off on his own.

CARAMANICO TERME - Lennart Jasch (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) won the second stage of the Giro d'Abruzzo Carta Giovani Nazionale, the 143km Popoli Terme-Caramanico Terme climb, ahead of Dorian Godon (Netcompany Ineos) and Matteo Scalco (XDS Astana Development Team). The German rider, national runner-up, had emerged ahead of the pack with just over 10 kilometers to go, on the Scagnano climb, accompanied by Matteo Scalco and Mattia Bais, attacking solo as the road steepened again near the final kilometer. CASALINCONTRADA - Alessandro Fancellu took the first stage of the Giro d'Abruzzo Carta Giovani Nazionale. The Lombard rider from MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort won the Cupello-Casalincontrada stage, attacking inside the final kilometer on the final climb to the finish line, edging out the closest rivals by two seconds. The opening stage of the third edition of the Giro d'Abruzzo, sponsored by RCS Sport, featured a long breakaway by Emanuele Ansaloni and Filippo D'Aiuto. The latter, thanks to the points earned at the Colle dei Ferrari climb, earned the first Maglia Azzurra. The leading pair's efforts were cancelled out by the peloton with 1,500 meters to go.
