Inter sinks Venezia with two own goals and catches up with Lazio

(PRIMASPORT) VENICE – It took two own goals from the Venetians to allow Inter to take the three points away from the lagoon, allowing them to join Lazio at the top of the table. And yet, Venezia had two goals ruled out for offside, and the score remained 0-0 until the 80th minute. In both cases, VAR intervened and verified the offside by a matter of centimeters: the same ones that ruled Lauberbach offside in the first half and Adams offside in the second. But when energy should be flagging, Inter doubled its strength. Such was the energy that unleashed Marcus Thuram, responsible for the cross-shot deflected into the net by Moreno. Two minutes later, another own goal, this time by Halhal, came from a mistouch on a corner kicked by Calhanoglu. It was the boost Inter needed to prepare for the derby scheduled for Saturday, October 31st, away to AC Milan, who instead suffered their first defeat in front of their fans.

Inter showed up at the Penzo Stadium with Bastoni as central defender and captain, flanked by Bisseck and Carlos. Aleksandar Stankovic made his first start, with Chivu tasking him with the midfield. Provedel was retained in goal, with Dimarco and Diouf on the wings, and Thuram and Bonny in attack. The formation mirrored Adams and Lauberbach as the attacking duo. At the start of the second half, Chivu brought on Calhanoglu, Barella, and Akanji in place of Stankovic, Sucic, and Bisseck; Pio Esposito also came on for Bonny at the halfway mark. It was a crucial move, as Moreno scored an own goal by sliding in to get ahead of Esposito. Davide Nicola's team proved to be competitive, but they lost due to their own errors and remain bottom of the Serie A table. (PRIMASPORT)
