(PRIMASPORT) Jannik Sinner, world number one in tennis, has announced the early end of his 2026 season due to inflammation in his right knee, specifying the need for treatment. The Italian tennis player is now aiming to return to the court in January at the Australian Open.
For rehabilitation, Sinner chose Dr. Herbert Schoenhuber, a specialist in orthopedics, traumatology, and sports medicine. Schoenhuber, co-founder of Physioclinic, is known for his ties to skiing and the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI), of which he was president of the medical commission and is now honorary president.
Dr. Schoenhuber is best known for guiding Sofia Goggia's recovery after her serious injury in Cortina in January 2022. Thanks to a rapid and effective rehabilitation process, the athlete won a silver medal in the downhill at the Beijing Olympics just 23 days after the accident.
The Physioclinic is optimistic about Sinner's recovery: "We're confident that Jannik, world number one, will also make a good recovery in the coming months and will be making tennis fans dream again next season." Positive developments are therefore expected for the Italian tennis player as the new year approaches. (PRIMASPORT)
