(PRIMASPORT) Fiona May, former Italian track and field champion, expressed her pride in her daughter Larissa's career and in the new generations of Italian athletes, emphasizing the importance of continuing to progress ahead of upcoming international events. "I'm proud of my daughter Larissa, but also of all the new generations. We must continue like this, starting next year with the World Championships and then the Olympics," May said during the presentation ceremony for the 'Euro-Mediterranean International Excellence Award' held at the Ministry of Culture.
Receiving the award, Fiona May added that she felt "very flattered," calling the recognition a wonderful message for Italian athletics. "I opened the door, and now the kids are coming in. We're Italy, and we're at a very high level. We're competing with the Americans. It's really nice for me," the two-time Olympic medalist concluded. (PRIMASPORT)
