(PRIMASPORT) COMO – The One Hundred Miles of the Lario crowns a new record holder. Serafino Barlesi, flanked by the Swede Joakim Kumlin, wins the 77th edition of the historic powerboat race on Lake Como, a victory that sets the all-time record for victories. With twelve wins, Barlesi surpasses the legendary Tullio Abbate, which held the record with eleven victories. The Maltese crew finished behind the winning crew Aaron Chantar e Jurgen Barbara, protagonists of a prestigious second place. Completing the podium are Christian Cesati e Dario Buchli, third at the end of the competition.
The 2026 edition also had a strong commemorative value. Forty years after the victory achieved in 1986 by Stefano Casiraghi, the Centomiglia paid homage to an unforgettable figure in its history, strengthening the link between the great enterprises of the past and the protagonists of contemporary motorboating. Among those present were also Michael Cadei, president of the Motorboating Lombardy and multiple jet ski champion, who underlined the sporting and symbolic importance of the Larian event: “The Centomiglia del Lario represents an extraordinary legacy of our sport. Congratulations to Serafino Barlesi for this historic achievement and to all the other winning pilots and crews in the various categories who provided such a spectacular and thrilling event. I would also like to express my sincere thanks to the Italian Powerboating Federation for their commitment and support of the sport and these prestigious events. Special thanks to the President of the Yacht Club Como, Gioacchino Favara, and to his entire team, the organizing committee, and the volunteers for their excellent work.”.
The event thus confirms its leading role in the powerboating scene, thanks to a tradition that began in 1949 and has been nurtured by generations of champions. (PRIMASPORT)
