Merino leads Spain to a comeback against Croatia in the Nations League

(PRIMASPORT) SPLIT Spain secured their fourth consecutive Nations League victory with a 2-1 victory over Croatia in Split thanks to a decisive brace from Mikel Merino. Despite a subdued first half and an early goal from Perisic, the Arsenal midfielder came on in the second half and turned the tide with goals in the 61st and 89th minutes.

The match had started badly for Spain, who fell behind in the 17th minute with Perisic's tap-in after a save from Unai Simón. In the second half, the world champions took control and mounted a comeback, thanks in part to the contributions of Olmo and Zubimendi. Croatia were reduced to ten men following the red card of Perisic, who received his second yellow card late in the match. With this defeat, Croatia remain on three points, while Spain leads the group with a perfect 12 points, tied with Portugal.

Meanwhile, England secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic, consolidating their second place in the group with nine points. England took the lead thanks to a 27th-minute own goal from Coufal, followed by a brace from Harry Kane, who scored in both the 40th and 57th minutes. Southgate's team dominated the match, leaving no room for their opponents, and the Czech Republic remains stuck with zero points. (PRIMASPORT)
