Lazio beat Monza 3-1 at the Olimpico and remain tied with Inter at the top of the table.

(PRIMASPORT) ROME Lazio won 3-1 against Monza on matchday six of Serie A, continuing their record start to the season with five wins in their first six games, a feat never achieved before in the club's history. The match was played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, and the Biancocelesti prevailed with some difficulty.

The match began with a spectacular goal from Nuno Tavares in the 3rd minute, who beat the keeper with a powerful shot from outside the box after being fed by Noslin. Monza immediately tried to respond, but in the 23rd minute, Isaksen doubled the lead with a curling left-footed shot, also off a pass from Noslin. Monza suffered a heavy blow in the 35th minute when Lucchesi was sent off for a last-man foul, forcing Juric's team to play with 10 men for the entire second half.

Despite being down to ten men, Monza managed to get back into the game right after halftime with Goglichidze, capitalizing on a corner taken by Dany Mota. Monza, reinvigorated by Mota's introduction, looked for an equalizer, but Lazio goalkeeper Mandas kept a clean sheet.

In the 88th minute, substitute Pinamonti sealed the deal, scoring his first goal at the Olimpico off a Pedraza assist to make it 3-1 with his new team. With this win, Lazio maintains pace with Inter, remaining level with them on 16 points, while Monza remains stuck on four.

This is the first time Lazio has won five of their first six Serie A games of the season, as well as their first consecutive hat-trick of wins against Monza in the top flight. Furthermore, Tavares' goal was Lazio's furthest goal from a distance in the league since 2019. (PRIMASPORT)
