PARIS – Maja Chwalinska, the 24-year-old Polish player, world number 104, who reached the Roland Garros final, lost her match against Mirra Andreeva, world number 8 in the WTA.
Score: 6-3 6-2 in favor of the 19-year-old Russian, in one hour and 23 minutes. The first set was almost entirely break-break, with Andreeva managing to hold serve twice. In the second set, Chwalinska counter-breaks her opponent in the seventh game, but immediately drops serve in the next, falling to Andreeva, who only dropped one set in Paris.
Tennis: Nineteen-year-old Russian Mirra Andreeva wins the women's title at Roland Garros. She defeats Poland's Chwalinska in straight sets.
