WUHAN – Jasmine Paolini kicked off the WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan, China, with a victory. The Italian defeated Czech Sara Beljek in the first round, 6-3, 6-4. Currently ranked No. 33 in the world, Paolini faced Sara Beljek, ranked No. 30, who is higher up the rankings.
