Olympics: A super Sunday for the Azzurri, with gold medals for Vittozzi and Brignone and silver for Moioli and Sommariva.

MILAN/CORTINA – It was a dream Sunday at the Milan-Cortina Olympics, with Italy sweeping the medals with Lisa Vittozzi's splendid success in the 10km biathlon pursuit, Federica Brignone taking her second gold in the giant slalom, and Michela Moioli and Lorenzo Sommariva taking silver in the mixed team snowboard cross.
Belluno's Vittozzi started 41″ behind the leader (Norway's Kirkeeide), but recovered everything and broke away thanks to her superlative performance on the shooting range, which sent her flying with a flying finish, 30″ ahead of Kirkeeide.
It's the first Olympic gold medal for Italian biathlon, adding to the bronze and silver medals she won in the mixed relay in PyeongChang and a few days ago at these same Games.
Federica Brignone, meanwhile, won two gold medals, including the Giant Slalom gold after the Super-G. Her first run was sensational, allowing her to finish in a second run with complete control (only 14th) over the Hector/Sjernesund duo, who tied for silver with a curious 'record': identical times in the first and second runs.
A strong Lara Della Mea earned an excellent fourth place, moving up 11 places from the first heat. Sofia Goggia finished only tenth.
Lorenzo Sommariva and Michela Moioli won silver in the mixed team snowboard cross. The two Italians finished the final behind Great Britain and ahead of France. Australia fell behind after a fall in the men's heat: Lambert collided with Sommariva, who managed to stay upright but finished third. Michela Moioli (bronze in the individual event) managed to gain a spot in the women's heat.
