(PRIMASPORT) MILAN – Federica Brignone and Sofia Goggia will not compete at the start of the Alpine skiing season in Soelden. This was confirmed directly by the two champions, speaking at the FISI Media Day at the Armani Teatro in Milan. Sofia Goggia's health issues are well-known, as previously discussed at the Trento Sports Festival. The double viral infection, specifically Chikungunya, which affected her nervous system, has forced her to embark on a gradual recovery process that requires maximum calm and clarity, knowing she could be fully recovered in ten days or even a month and a half. After that, she will begin focusing on specific ski training. This represents another challenging test for Sofia Goggia, who hasn't set any goals this season but will focus on regaining her physical and athletic condition, both personally and professionally.
Federica Brignone has been sidelined since last February, since her double Olympic feat. The 35-year-old from La Salle is still recovering from the injury she sustained at the 2025 Italian Championships and confessed that she's set herself the goal of getting back on skis and training to determine when it's time to return to competition. "I thought I'd be fine and able to continue through last season. After the Olympics, I tried to compete in the World Cup, but I realized it wasn't possible," said Federica Brignone. (PRIMASPORT)
