Pogacar won the Tour de France for the fifth time, after the 2020, 2021, 2024 and 2025 editions, equaling the record set by Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain.
But on the streets of Paris, the final stage provided sparks. Wearing yellow, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates XRG) put on a show with a series of attacks on the Côte de la Butte Montmartre. After the third and final climb, only Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin-Premier Tech) remained in the lead. The two worked together to hold off the peloton in a thrilling finale. While Pogacar faltered, Van der Poel rode the final 600 meters alone, narrowly escaping the sprinters, led by teammate Jasper Philipsen, at the finish line. Third on the day, Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) became the first Dane to take the green jersey and the sixth rider to win the points classification in all three Grand Tours. Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) won both the polka-dot jersey and the Super Combativity award, as he did in 2024. Third in the overall standings, Isaac del Toro (UAE Emirates XRG) also took the white jersey for best young rider. Also in the roll of honor is US national champion Quinn Simmons (Lidl-Trek), named this year's best teammate.
