Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Premier Tech) claimed his eleventh road stage victory at the Tour, his first this year. The Belgian sprinter held off Mads Pedersen's (Lidl-Trek) aggression to join the leading group and, with the crucial support of Mathieu Van der Poel and his teammates, triumphed in Voiron, where he finished second in last year's Vuelta. At the finish, Philipsen prevailed over Mauro Schmid (Jayco AlUla) and Olav Kooij (Decathlon CMA CGM) and earned valuable points in the fight for the green jersey. He now sits on 445 points, just seven behind Pedersen. Following Remco Evenepoel's victories at Plateau de Solaison and Thonon-les-Bains, the Belgian riders have secured their third consecutive stage victory. The last time they made a series like this was in 1981.
