VIGO – It was a historic day in Vigo for the Italian national team at the 2026 European Police & Fire Games, where Antonino Lollo, former Italian marathon champion, became the European Half Marathon Champion. Lollo, a State Police Select Officer serving with the Bergamo Police Headquarters, set the pace, winning by a wide margin over his opponents, becoming the fastest marathon runner in Europe among police and firefighters. The European Police & Fire Games saw the participation of approximately 3,000 law enforcement and emergency services professionals from 40 nations, competing in 50 sports. Lollo, bib number 2182, dominated the race from the first kilometers, outpacing all his opponents and arriving *alone at the finish line*, despite a period of intense training behind him. This prestigious victory, achieved ahead of some very strong competitors, places him first in Europe.
(PRIMASPORT) The Italian athlete expressed great satisfaction: "I'm deeply honored to have won the Vigo Half Marathon. I gave it my all from the first few kilometers, trying to manage it. I finished alone, and I'm very proud to have represented the Italian national team, the national police, and the Bergamo police headquarters, of which I am a member. It's a beautiful and very important victory.". (PRIMASPORT)
