BERGAMO, JUNE 30, 2026 – Seven searches have been underway since the early hours of this morning targeting seven ultras belonging to the "Ultras Italia" group, as part of an investigation coordinated by the Bergamo Public Prosecutor's Office and conducted by the State Police. According to the Bergamo Police Headquarters, the suspects are members of the "Ultras Italia" cartel of Italian national team supporters, described by investigators as having far-right ideological leanings.
The investigation after Italy-Northern Ireland
The investigation stems from investigations launched following the World Cup qualifying match between Italy and Northern Ireland on March 26. The investigation concerns alleged threatening and abusive behavior toward other spectators present at the stadium during the match. Investigators are gathering additional material to help reconstruct what happened and determine any liability of those involved.
Multi-city operation
The searches were carried out with the support of personnel from the police headquarters in Rome, Genoa, Vicenza, Fermo, Rimini, and Pesaro. The operation was coordinated by the Central Directorate of Prevention Police, as part of efforts to combat violence and intimidation related to organized football fans. The investigation is continuing under the coordination of the Bergamo Public Prosecutor's Office.
