The Lazio Regional Administrative Court (TAR) rejects the suspension and confirms its approval of the AIA elections.

(PRIMASPORT) Lazio The Lazio Regional Administrative Court (TAR) has rejected the request for a precautionary suspension presented by Antonio Zappi, former president of the Italian Referees Association (AIA), thus allowing the elections scheduled for October 10, 2026, to proceed as scheduled.

The administrative court's decision followed the final confirmation of the sporting sanctions imposed on Zappi, which resulted in his removal from office as president of the AIA. Specifically, the National Federal Tribunal had suspended Zappi for 13 months in January 2026 for undue pressure on the refereeing commission appointees of Serie C and D to force them to resign.

The suspension was confirmed by the Federal Court of Appeal in February and then definitively by the CONI Sports Guarantee Board on April 28, formally sanctioning Zappi's dismissal from the AIA presidency. (PRIMASPORT)
