(PRIMASPORT) MILAN – The 2026/2027 season of the Serie A Élite Men, the top Italian national rugby league, which will kick off on Saturday 17 October, was presented at the Rai headquarters in Milan.

Federica Picchi, Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Lombardy Region with responsibility for Sport and Youth, attended the press conference. Picchi emphasized the importance of Lombardy to the Italian rugby scene, noting that, along with Veneto, it ranks among the top regions in Italy in terms of registered players. She also highlighted the presence in Milan of one of the Italian Rugby Federation's Under-18 continuing education centers, a hub for the sport's top prospects.

The Undersecretary also reiterated that Lombardy considers rugby not only a competitive sport, but also a tool for the growth, inclusion, and education of young people. In this regard, he mentioned the regional support for the "IN META! – Rugby, Youth and Territory" project, aimed at young people between the ages of 15 and 34, especially in vulnerable urban areas. This project has also been extended to the Beccaria prison in Milan. (PRIMASPORT)
