Emanuela Maccarani has been named the new head coach of the Russian national rhythmic gymnastics team for group exercises, as announced by the Moscow federation and confirmed by her husband Moreno Buccianti on Facebook.
Maccarani led the Italian national team from 1996 until 2025. His relationship with the Italian Gymnastics Federation ended following the scandal of alleged psychological abuse reported by several former gymnasts, including Anna Basta and Nina Corradini, starting in the fall of 2022. Maccarani is currently on trial for these charges, with the initial hearing held last February.
