Lorenzo Musetti

(PRIMASPORT) LYON – Lorenzo Musetti returned to success on the ATP Tour by winning the Lyon tournament title, his first after a four-year hiatus. The Italian defeated Taylor Fritz, world number 13, 6-3, 6-4 in the final, winning his third career title after those in Hamburg and Naples in 2022.

The final took place in an hour and a half, and Musetti demonstrated great concentration and tenacity, despite some physical pain immediately before the match. "It's a dream, and I don't want to wake up," the Italian declared after the match. He emphasized the importance of fighting spirit and the support of his team, citing newcomer Gianluca Mager in particular as a valuable asset in his preparation over the past few weeks.

The victory in Lyon could mark a new beginning for the 24-year-old Tuscan tennis player, who has faced a challenging period with several injuries. Musetti also thanked the French crowd for their support and has already set his next goal at the ATP 500 in Vienna, where he will face Frances Tiafoe in the first round. Four other Italians will also be competing in the Austrian tournament, including Flavio Cobolli, who, after losing to Musetti in the semifinals in Lyon, is aiming to earn points to qualify for the ATP Finals.
