(PRIMASPORT) The longest stage of the 2026 Tour de France—205.8 km from Dole to Belfort—favored Tom Pidcock, who, despite not winning, advanced in the overall standings. The stage featured a 57-rider breakaway that formed after over 100 kilometers of battle at breakneck speed. Mauro Schmid (Jayco AlUla) and Tom Pidcock (Pinarello Q36.5) were the protagonists up and down the iconic Pallon d'Alsace. The British climber conquered the climb and built a huge lead over the peloton. But the formidable Swiss attacked on the descent and narrowly edged out Harold Tejada (XDS Astana) at the finish, with Pidcock completing the day's podium. While the peloton crossed the finish line 7:32 behind, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates XRG) retained the leader's jersey ahead of a challenging weekend. Pidcock climbs to fourth in the overall standings, just 9 seconds behind third-place Remco Evenepoel (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe). (PRIMASPORT)
Swiss rider Mauro Schmid wins the longest stage of the Tour, while Tom Pidcock climbs the rankings.
