The Tour de France begins under the banner of Jonas Vingegaard

(PRIMASPORT) BARCELONA – Dane Jonas Vingegaard has worn the first yellow jersey at the Tour de France since Visma | Lease a Bike's victory in the team time trial in Barcelona with a time of 21:47. The Giro d'Italia winner attacked the final climb of Montjuïc, escorted by teammate Piganzoli. Pippo Ganna, who believed he could win but saw his dream vanish by just 8 seconds, finished second. Pogacar finished third, 12 seconds behind.

The opening team time trial of the 2026 Tour de France delivered the expected thrills. Jonas Vingegaard returned to the Yellow Jersey after three years, climbing onto the final podium to claim his second Tour victory. Three years later, the Danish climber triumphed on the final climb of the day, after his teammates had run out of steam on the first flat sections. Filippo Ganna (+8'') saw the plans of his team, British team Netcompany Ineos, jeopardized by Kévin Vauquelin's puncture. Tadej Pogačar's UAE Emirates-XRG completed the podium (+12'') thanks to a strong performance by the Slovenian in the finale. He was fastest over the final 3.7 kilometers of hills and took the polka-dot jersey. (PRIMASPORT)
