VIAREGGIO – Filippo Ganna dominated the Giro d'Italia time trial with a display of strength worthy of a great champion. In the Viareggio-Marina di Massa individual time trial, the hour record holder covered the 42km of flatland between Versilia and the Apuan Riviera at an average speed of 54.921 km/h, in 45'53".
Second place went to Dutchman Thymen Arensman, at 1'54", followed by Frenchman Rémi Cavagna, at 1'59". This was the tenth stage.
In the general classification, Portugal's Afonso Eulalio is 4:57 behind Ganna and retains the pink jersey. The favorite for the overall victory is Denmark's Jonas.
