(PRIMASPORT) APPIANO GENTILE – Andrea Romano, a 25-year-old Roman golfer, moved to the top of the leaderboard after the second round of the Giorgio Bordoni Memorial, an Alps Tour and Italian Pro Tour tournament held at La Pinetina Golf Club in Appiano Gentile (Como). Romano totaled a 128 overall score (-12), maintaining a two-shot lead over Irishman Robert Moran, who was second with a 130 (-10).
Seventeen-year-old amateur Matteo Manini, leader after the first lap, is in third place with a score of 131 (-9), along with Gonzalo Leal, Pablo Alperi, Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, and Lars Keunen. Andrea Rota and Pietro Boeris are eighth, both at -8, while Alessandro Nardini and Davide Buchi are eleventh at -7. Frenchman Alexandre Vandermoten, leader of the order of merit, is sixteenth at -6.
The Giorgio Bordoni Memorial, now in its twelfth edition, is organized in memory of the federal coach who passed away prematurely in 2013, with the patronage of the Lombardy Region. The event concludes the Alps Tour regular season and awards important points for the order of merit, determining qualifications for the Grand Final in Belgium and the assignment of cards for the HotelPlanner Tour.
Romano is aiming for his fourth win of the season after victories in Egypt and France. The player said: “I was solid from tee to green. I can play more relaxed after securing my HotelPlanner Tour card, but I need to stay focused for the DP World Tour Qualifying School. It was exciting to compete against Vandermoten, my closest rival for the order of merit.”.
The La Pinetina Golf Club course winds across seventy hectares of greenery in the Appiano Gentile Pinewood Park, offering a varied game and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. (PRIMASPORT)
