FIGUEIRA DA FOZ – Eleven Italian crews will be competing in the Coupe de la Jeunesse Beach Sprint, scheduled to take place in Figueira da Foz (Portugal) from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th October, based on the results of the selections held in Barletta immediately after the Italian Championships on Monday 20th July.
On the first day, the singles sculls will be Michele Grosso (Pro Monopoli) and Gaia Saija (Peloro Rowing). The women's doubles will feature Miriam Loconsole (CUS Bari) and Mariantonietta Trischitta (Peloro Rowing). In the men's doubles, the spotlight will be on Christian Candido (Fiamme Gialle) and Christian Baia (CN Paradiso). In the mixed doubles, Francesco Tanzarella (VVF Carrino) and Lisa Marchetti (SC Varese) will compete.
The second day will feature singles players Thomas Capponi (Fiamme Gialle) and Gaia d'Este (SC Timavo). The women's doubles will feature Maja Antoni and Eleonora Diamanti Lelli, both of CC Saturnia. The men's doubles will feature Daniel Bodini (SC Arolo) and Max Linhart (CC Saturnia). Alessandro Patrignani (SC Montefeltro) and Barbara Cilli (LNI Barletta) will compete in the mixed doubles.
The third day will be dedicated to the relay with a crew still being defined.
In the days of Friday and Saturday, the competition will get into full swing right from the early hours of the morning. The engines will start punctually at 9:00 with the Time Trials of the men's doubles (CJM2x), followed by the 9:15 from the women's doubles (CJW2x). At 9:35 the men's singles (CJM1x) will take to the water at 9:55 it will be the turn of the women's singles (CJW1x) and, to close the first qualifying phase, the 10:20 We will see the mixed doubles (CJMix2x) in action. After a short break at 10:45, it will be time for the first knockout stages, the Knockouts: we start again at 11:00 with the women's doubles, and then continue every twenty minutes with the men's singles at 11:20, the women's singles at 11:40and finally the mixed doubles at 12:00. Lunch break at 12:30. The afternoon will be a real race towards the medals! We'll start again at 14:00 with the quarter-finals of the men's doubles and at 14:20 with those of the women's doubles. Semi-finals from 14:40, to get to the first key moments of the day: the very first finals for gold, with the men's doubles at 15:00 and the women's doubles at 15:10. The battle will continue with the individuals: from 15:25 the qualifiers and quarter-finals will be played, followed by the semi-finals at 16:05 for men and women 16:15 for women. To 16:25 the men's singles champion will be crowned and, just ten minutes later, at 16:35, the women's singles champion. The mixed doubles will close the rich afternoon program: quarterfinals at 16:50, semi-finals at 17:10 and the grandiose final at 17:25.
The day of Sunday will offer an equally concentrated and captivating show entirely in the morning. Starting at 09:00 and up to 09:40 we will witness a rapid series of Time Trials and preliminary rounds to define the starting grids. Then, starting from 10:30, we will experience the final crescendo: we will start with the Final D at 10:30, the Final C at 10:40 and the Final B at 10:50. The climax of the whole event will be reached exactly at 11:00, when will the start Final A, the most awaited moment that will decree the overall winners.
