FONTANAFREDDA - The Italian women's national rugby team got off to a flying start in the WXV Global Series: in Fontanafredda, Plinio Sciamanna's team, making his debut as head coach of the Azzurre, dominated and defeated Japan 55-21, playing a high-quality match. They took an early lead, responded to Japan's initial comeback, and sealed the match in the first half. Italy scored nine tries, including the first goals for Italy by Alessandra Frangipani and Margherita Tonellotto, and especially Vittoria Ostuni Minuzzi, who reached 21 tries and became the all-time leading scorer.
