BIRMINGHAM – Italy secured a double silver medal in the marathon at the European Championships in Birmingham: Pietro Riva took the men's race, while the Italian women won the team classification. Riva took second place by initiating the decisive move on the final uphill stretch just a few hundred meters from the finish line, finishing in 2:09:18.
