LIVIGNO – Italy secured a spectacular double in freestyle cross. Simone Deromedis (2023 world champion) and Federico Tomasoni performed superbly, taking gold and silver in the big final ahead of Switzerland's Fiva (bronze in a photo finish with the Bergamo native) and Japan's Sato. Deromedis led from the first centimeter in the final. Tomasoni did well to stay on Fiva's tail and pass him on the final jump. Dominik Zuech was defeated in the quarterfinals, in the "fratricidal" heat from which Deromedis and Tomasoni qualified. Edoardo Zorzi was eliminated in the round of 16. Italy's medal tally now stands at 29.
