EUGENE (USA) – Another Italian sprinter reached the final at the U20 World Championships in Eugene. Margherita Castellani set a new Italian U20 record in the 200 meters with a time of 22.99 (+1.2), becoming the first Italian junior to dip under 23 seconds and shaving a tenth off Elisa Valensin's previous mark, who ran a season-best of 23.23 (+0.5) in the semifinals but was eliminated. Alessia Succo reached the final in the 100 meters hurdles with a time of 13.17 (+0.9), three hundredths of a second off her Italian U20 record.
