BARCELONA Rodri revealed to Mundo Deportivo the background to his momentous decision to reject Real Madrid for Barcelona. The midfielder explained how he endured two weeks of intense pressure, having to choose between two of the most prestigious clubs in world football.
“"I wanted to have a peaceful two weeks, but they weren't at all. I had to make a big decision, between two of the biggest clubs in the world. In the end, my choice was purely football-related: I chose the club that I felt was best suited to my development as a player," Rodri said.
He also emphasized his respect for Real Madrid: "I want to point out that saying no to Real Madrid wasn't easy, especially because they treated me exemplarily. Before turning me down, I called Mourinho to thank him for his interest in me.".
