USTICA The second part of the 4th Sebastiano Tusa Sea Festival, dedicated to terrestrial and underwater archaeology, Mediterranean conservation, sailing, and new technologies, takes place today and tomorrow in Ustica. The event, promoted by the Sebastiano Tusa Foundation in collaboration with several local organizations, combines culture, research, and water sports.
The inaugural ceremony was held today at 6:00 PM at the Faraglioni Village Archaeological Area, with presentations by experts and academics on the topic of enhancing archaeological heritage with new technologies. This will be followed by a guided tour of the work dedicated to Sebastiano Tusa by artist Giacomo Rizzo.
At the port of Ustica, environmental workshops were held on a legal vessel to collect microplastics, in collaboration with the Italian Naval League of Palermo. Tomorrow, also at the port, introductory sailing lessons for children will be held.
The event will conclude with the finish of the 15th edition of the Palermo-Ustica Marine Protected Areas Regatta, a major sporting event that closes the event. This will be followed by the awards ceremony and the presentation of the Sebastiano Tusa Challenge Trophy and the Ermanno Ferrigno Trophy.
Valeria Li Vigni, president of the Sebastiano Tusa Foundation, emphasized Ustica's importance as an open laboratory for archaeology and marine conservation, integrating culture, sport, and scientific research to engage the community and new generations.
