NAPLES, JULY 1, 2026 – SSC Napoli officially opens its Centenary season, a celebratory journey that will accompany the club and its fans for an entire year through events, cultural initiatives, and celebrations dedicated to the club's history and future. The program revolves around the message "Pe' cient'anne," a wish that unites memory, identity, and future prospects.
The symbolic reference of the celebrations remains the August 1, 1926, a date that has entered the collective memory of the Azzurri people as the moment of the club's birth, despite the awareness that the roots of Neapolitan football are sunk in an even more ancient history.
From the origins of football to SSC Napoli
The history of football in Naples takes shape between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century with the birth of the Naples Cricket & Foot-Ball Club in 1906 and of the’Naples International Sports Union in 1911. From the merger of the two companies, the Football Club Internazionale-Naples, which on August 25, 1926 took the name of Naples Football Association. In 1964 the current name arrived Napoli Football Club.
The centenary celebrations coincide with one of the most important periods in the club's recent history, following sporting successes that have helped strengthen the city's international visibility.
The Sun Courser Returns
Among the main novelties of the Centenary is the return of the Courser of the Sun, the prancing horse that was the club's first symbol and which recalls one of the historic emblems of the city of Naples.
The ancient symbol will once again become part of the club's visual identity, recalling the origins of Neapolitan football and its connection to the city's tradition.
Jerseys, season tickets and events
The calendar of celebrations will start on July 6th with the presentation of the new 2026/27 Home shirt on board the MSC World Europa, chosen as a symbol of the Centenary's identity.
The July 10th the season ticket campaign will be presented, while the new Away and Third kits will also be revealed during the pre-season.
In the summer retreats of Dimaro e Castel di Sangro installations dedicated to the history of the club will be set up inside the Fan Villages, thanks to the collaboration with Blue Moments, Official Memorabilia Partner of SSC Napoli.
The celebration in the heart of Naples on August 1st
The central event of the celebrations will be the August 1st, when the club will organize a big event in the center of Naples with the participation of fans and numerous legends of the Azzurri's history.
The initiatives will continue abroad with two events dedicated to Neapolitan fans around the world.
A film will also be presented in the fall that will retrace the history of the company from its origins to the present day.Collaboration with Treccani
Among the most significant elements of the project is the collaboration with Treccani, cultural partner of the Centenary.
For the first time in its history, the Institute of the Italian Encyclopedia will produce a publication entirely dedicated to a football club, chronicling the journey of SSC Napoli over its first century of existence.
