ALCANIZ (SPAIN), AUGUST 29, 2026 – Marco Bezzecchi took pole position for the Aragon MotoGP Grand Prix. The Aprilia rider set a new MotorLand record with a time of 1:44.962.
Bezzecchi was the only rider to dip under the 1 minute and 45 second mark. Marc Marquez finished second, 0.089 seconds behind, after making a mistake on his final attempt.
Alex Marquez completes the front row, third, 0.299 seconds off pole. This is Bezzecchi's third pole position start of the season and his twelfth in the MotoGP class.
Bagnaia will start from the third row
Raul Fernandez will head the second row for Aprilia Trackhouse. Behind him will be championship leader Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta, who crashed during the session.
Fabio Di Giannantonio took seventh place ahead of Francesco Bagnaia. The Ducati rider had qualified best in Q1 and will start from eighth place. Johann Zarco, returning from his injury in Barcelona, completes the third row.
Diogo Moreira, Fermin Aldeguer, and Franco Morbidelli will start on the fourth row. Jack Miller, Brad Binder, and Joan Mir, who were excluded from Q1, will occupy the fifth row.
Bezzecchi evaluates the physical conditions
At the end of qualifying, Bezzecchi highlighted the progress Aprilia had made on a traditionally difficult track. The Italian rider, however, confirmed that he still had pain in his knee, while his shoulder had improved.
Physical fitness will be a key factor in both the Sprint and Grand Prix races. Marc Marquez acknowledged his rival's superiority over a single lap and pace, while Alex Marquez cited tire management as one of the key factors in the short race.
