Turkey coach Vincenzo Montella spoke about the upcoming Nations League match against Italy, a team he would have preferred to avoid. In an interview with Sky, Montella expressed his motivation: "It will be a special and important match for me: I wouldn't have chosen it, but I will give everything for Turkey because they chose me, adopted me. I will give everything for my team.".
The coach also praised Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, saying: "If I could, I'd take him away from Italy. He's extraordinary, he covers the net exceptionally well.".
Montella added that the Turkish mentality is similar to the one he experienced growing up in Southern Italy, and that he's considering some changes to the lineup due to the recent close and challenging matches. "It will also be an opportunity to see other players at work. I believe in some new arrivals and prospects," he said.
Finally, he spoke about the talent of Arda Guler: "He's talented. He sees things others don't. He's growing a lot, even when not in possession. I would have loved to play with him, just like when I played with Roberto Mancini.".
