PUNE – The 2032 UCI Road World Championships will be held in Pune, a city in western India, chosen by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) during its congress held in Montreal, to coincide with this year's edition.
Pune prevailed in the vote over Groningen, in the Netherlands, which will host the 2034 edition. UCI President David Lappartient commented that both bids were valid and that the choice represents a good solution for both cities.
This will be the first time India has hosted the Road World Championships, which were first held outside Europe in Montreal in 1974. Japan was the first Asian country to host the event in 1990, followed by Qatar in Doha in 2016, and the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi in 2028. In 2025, Rwanda became the first African country to host the World Championships, in Kigali. The 2027 edition will be held in Haute-Savoie, France.
