Mirwan Suwarso paid tribute to 72 veteran fans over 75 in the grandstand at the Sinigaglia stadium.

(PRIMASPORT) COMO – The city of Como experienced a historic day, with the Champions League debut of Cesc Fabregas' team proving its worth. But first and foremost, President Mirwan Suwarso's club demonstrated the true meaning of loyalty to a club to which one remains attached for life. Before the current era, there were years spent playing in the lower leagues, during which some never missed the stadium. To these, Suwarso and the club's management gave up their seats in the grandstand for the match against Leipzig. Seventy-two people over 75 were escorted from their homes to the Sinigaglia Stadium. Among them was the club's senior, Ernesto Bianchi, 95, who watched Como play in Serie A in the 1950s. All gathered in the hospitality area for a convivial dinner two hours before kickoff. Giulio Bianchi Riva, born in 1948, traveled from Cernobbio to experience the excitement of the Champions League final. He had also followed the team in Serie D and recalled his first visit to the Sinigaglia stadium on March 4, 1962, for the Como-Genoa match, which ended 1-0 for the Como club. The team included Gigi Meroni, one of the greatest talents in Italian football, who died at just 24 after being hit by a car in Turin. Six dozen veterans attended, each remembering small, great stories tied to Como. And with hearts filled with joy and emotion, being able to say, "I was there." (PRIMASPORT)
