MILAN After losing their first match under coach Amorim, AC Milan are facing criticism for their lack of effective attacking play and their difficulty scoring goals. The Portuguese coach has revised his initial assessment of the transfer market and the squad, going from an extremely positive assessment to an acknowledgement of the players' limitations compared to his playing style.
Amorim admitted that not all of the players available have the right characteristics for his tactical plan, also expressing his concern about the need for time and a perceived lack of quality. This reversal has attracted attention and criticism from observers.
At the same time, comparisons have been made with his predecessor, Max Allegri, pointing out that under the current Napoli coach, AC Milan plays a similar style of football, but with worse results than under Allegri. In Allegri's first five-game Serie A campaign, the team earned 12 points with four wins and one defeat, scoring nine goals and conceding two. Under Amorim, including the Europa League, the record is two wins, two draws, and one defeat, with seven goals scored and six conceded.
It should be noted, however, that Amorim's schedule was more demanding, with matches against Torino, Venezia, Juventus, Lazio and Benfica, including three away games, compared to Allegri's five matches which included three home games against Cremonese, Lecce and Bologna.
