(PRIMASPORT) CERESOLE REALE – Italy returns to victory in the Tour de l'Avenir, better known as the Young Riders' Tour de France, after more than half a century, thanks to Lorenzo Finn, who triumphed in the yellow jersey by soloing to the finish line of the 7th stage from Ceresole Reale to Lago Serrù. The 2026 edition of the stage race concluded in Italy. Finn broke a drought that had lasted since 1973, when Gianbattista Baronchelli won. The 19-year-old from Genoa, riding for the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe Rookies, defended the yellow jersey he earned at the end of the time trial he dominated in Flaine and, on the final stage, broke away in the final 2 km. Lorenzo Finn accomplished exactly what Gianbattista Baronchelli achieved: the Giro Next Gen and Tour de l'Avenir double. Finn, who has already won the Junior and U23 world championship titles, becomes the fourth Italian to win the Tour de l'Avenir, which also includes champions such as Gimondi (1964), LeMond, Indurain, Fignon, Lemond, and Pogacar. The first Italians to win were De Rosso in 1961 and Felice Gimondi in 1964. (PRIMASPORT)
