SUN VAL After thirteen years, Italy regains the Team Relay rainbow jersey. The signing came on the opening day of the MTB World Championships in Val di Sole. Juri Zanotti, Paul Costa, Martina Berta, Giorgia Pellizotti, Valentina Corvi e Fabio BassignanaThey mounted a comeback in the second half of the race and gave the national team its fourth world title in the discipline. The final time was 1:08:06. Switzerland finished second at 51. The United States took bronze at 1:31.
Great satisfaction from the President Cordiano Dagnoni: “"The Team Relay honors an entire movement, because it brings together the three competitive categories, men's and women's. It's a formula that allows us to see the quality and depth of our sector represented in a single race. Italy demonstrates that it also has a top-notch movement in off-road racing, and this world title confirms that. Congratulations to the six riders who competed today, to the Technical Commissioners, and to all the staff who worked to achieve this result.".
The team spirit was evident in the race, but also off the course. At the end of the race, the Azzurri dedicated the victory to Chiara Teocchi, recovering from the serious accident in La Thuile last July, which caused spinal trauma and required surgery. For her, the team displayed an Italian flag with the writing “Come on Chiara”.
