MILAN - Rafael Leao is called upon to choose his future: Galatasaray or Aston Villa. AC Milan has given the green light to both deals and is now awaiting the Portuguese striker's decision, which could arrive as early as today.
There are two very different proposals on the table from an economic and sporting perspective. Galatasaray offers Leao approximately 12 million euros per season and a contract until 2030. The’Aston Villa instead it stops around the 8 million, but is offering an agreement until 2031 and above all the possibility of playing in the Premier League, a championship that the Portuguese considers particularly attractive for the continuation of his career.
Milan said yes to both offers
For the Rossoneri club, from an economic point of view, both options are essentially viable.
Galatasaray has put on the table 45 million plus 5 in bonuses, reaching the total 50 million requested by Milan.
The formula proposed by Aston Villa is different, and they would arrive at a similar evaluation through 8 million for the onerous loan and another 42 million linked to the subsequent redemption, between right and obligation.
Milan has therefore opened up to both solutions, essentially leaving the choice of destination up to the player.
Leao torn between salary and Premier League
The most financially advantageous offer is that of Galatasaray. The Istanbul club would guarantee Leao a significantly higher salary than the one proposed by the English club.
However, what weighs on Aston Villa's side is above all the Premier League. Leao has long considered the English Premier League as a potential career destination, and the opportunity to test himself in England could prove decisive.
The decision should be made shortly, with the terms of the two transactions now defined.
Leao-Milan, farewell after seven years
What appears increasingly likely is the conclusion of Leao's adventure at Milan after seven seasons.
A relationship marked by very different moments. The highlight remains the Scudetto won with the Portuguese among the key players of the Rossoneri team. In the years since, however, the striker's performance has been less consistent, even a recent season below expectations.
Now all that's missing is the final decision. Istanbul guarantees a more financially rewarding contract, Birmingham offers the Premier League: the final word goes to Leao.
