Barcelona president Joan Laporta revealed that the signing of Lautaro Martinez was a priority for the club last summer, but Inter put a stop to all negotiations.
In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Laporta explained: “"I wanted Lautaro at all costs. He's an incredible player, we didn't want to let him slip away."”. However, after contacting Inter president Giuseppe Marotta, it emerged that “the footballer was not for sale”.
The Catalan president added that the decision to transfer was not up to the player, but to the Nerazzurri club, who chose to keep him on the team: “Out of respect for Beppe, whom I respect so much, we stopped.”.
Regarding the future, Laporta then discussed another figure linked to Serie A, Cesc Fabregas, underlining his knowledge of the Blaugrana philosophy and his admiration for coach Flick.
