Lombardy prepares to host the Youth Multiple Event Festival

(PRIMASPORT) MILAN – Lombardy will host the Youth Festival of Multiple Events, one of the main national athletics events, the most important one involving athletes under 18 years of age: presented at the headquarters of Lombardy Region, the double Italian event scheduled for the weekend of Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October in Casalmaggiore, in the province of Cremona. The Casalasco sports center will host the Italian Individual Championships/Regional Cadet Trophy (Under 16) of multiple events and the national championship final of Multiple Test Society Students (Under 18). A double championship of great technical and organizational value (approximately 170 athletes on the track, competing in five to ten events each, from all over Italy) that will also include a significant first for the Under 16 Regions' Trophy. The two-day event will represent the most important Italian Track Championship event on Lombardy soil in 2026: a competition strongly supported by the FIDAL Lombardy Regional Committee, which will oversee the event's organization. It will be a historic event in its own right: Casalmaggiore will be the debut of the Cadet Regions' Trophy for women's pentathlon and men's exathlon, which will thus have a dedicated event for the first time.

«"The event will also represent a particularly significant moment for the youth sector and for the combined events, disciplines that require expertise, planning and a strong collaboration between clubs, coaches, judges, volunteers and local structures," underlined the president of FIDAL Lombardia. Luca Barzaghi –, thanking Atletica Interflumina è Più Pomì and President Carlo Stassano for contributing to the organizational machine.

Federica Picchi, Undersecretary for Sport and Youth of the Lombardy Region, recalled that this will be the main track event of 2026 for Lombardy: the Regional Trophy of multiple events will be awarded among the Cadets, in its first edition, adding that many Under 18 students who competed in the multiple events championship are part of the FIDAL Lombardia Talent Project, created to support student-athletes in their dual careers, combining study and high-level competitions. The host for the weekend of competitions will be Atletica Interflumina è Più Pomì, chaired by Carlo Stassano, one of the founders of the Casalasco club, which today boasts a high-profile sports center, with a recently renovated outdoor track and an adjacent indoor facility. Alongside Stassano, CONI Lombardy regional councilor Gianni Mauri (president of FIDAL Lombardia for eight years). Present at the press conference (in addition to Franco Angelotti, president of Bracco Atletica competing this weekend among the students, but also to the councillor of FIDAL Lombardia Giampaolo Riva and to the president of FIDAL Milan Potito Gilberti) also the last Lombard athlete to win the Italian Cadet title in multiple events, the Brianza native Andrea Caiani, now 23, coming off a splendid season (a bronze medal at the Italian National Championships in both the decathlon and indoor heptathlon) and the 2018 Italian Under-16 exathlon champion.
