TURIN, AUGUST 28, 2026 – Juventus continues their search for a center forward to make available to Luciano Spalletti. Alexander Sorloth remains their top target, but negotiations with Atlético Madrid appear complex.
The Spanish club hasn't accepted the Juventus proposal and values the Norwegian at around €40 million. The gap between the two sides remains wide with just a few days to go before the transfer window closes.
Sorloth, under contract with Atletico until 2028, fits the criteria Spalletti specified. The coach asked for a physical striker, effective in the air and capable of playing against more compact defenses.
Juventus vs. Sorloth: Mateta is the top option.
Juventus is also keeping Jean-Philippe Mateta a possibility. The Crystal Palace striker has been pursued for some time, but the cost and structure of the deal are two obstacles.
In Turin, the London club is expected to open negotiations in the final hours of the transfer window. However, no agreements have been reached yet.
Also being explored are Nottingham Forest's Arnaud Kalimuendo and Newcastle's Nick Woltemade. Both could become loan options in the closing stages of the transfer window.
Jonathan David influences the Juventus transfer market
The possibility of acquiring another striker remains tied to Jonathan David's future. The Canadian has reiterated his desire to stay at Juventus and has reportedly rejected several offers from abroad.
David would only consider a top-tier sporting project and financial conditions similar to those he received in Turin. His permanence limits the roster space and the resources available for a new deal.
CEO Giovanni Carnevali and sporting director Frederic Massara remain working on various options. Without a striker, however, Juventus may face further difficulties in finalizing a new signing.
Sorloth remains the preferred option, while Mateta, Kalimuendo, and Woltemade represent alternatives for a potential deal in the final hours. No negotiations have yet produced a definitive agreement.
