FRANCE Como goalkeeper Jean Butez has been called up to the French national team for the first time to replace the injured Robin Risser, as announced by the France coaching staff. The call-up is part of the first list drawn up by new coach Zinédine Zidane, which also includes AC Milan's starting goalkeeper Mike Maignan and Guillaume Restes.
The decision was taken in agreement with the technical staff of RC Lens, Risser's team, introducing a new policy according to which injured players called up are no longer subjected to medical checks at Clairefontaine.
Butez also joins teammate Lucas Da Cunha, who has also been called up to the national team, having finished fourth in the Italian championship with Como and is participating in this season's Champions League.
