(PRIMASPORT) Jannik Sinner's return to the court has been postponed once again. The world number one himself announced via social media that he is withdrawing from the Shanghai Masters 1000. "Unfortunately, I won't be able to play the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year, as I had hoped. I always enjoy playing in front of the Shanghai fans, and I'm very disappointed not to be able to do so next week. Thank you all for your support. I can't wait to see you again next year." The decision to skip the Chinese tournament was made after a final consultation with orthopedic surgeon Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet, who reportedly advised Sinner to continue conservative treatment and avoid surgery. The South Tyrolean champion is physically affected by inflammation of the tendons in his right knee, which apparently shows no signs of completely disappearing. Sinner hasn't played since his Wimbledon triumph on July 12th and has already withdrawn from tournaments in Canada, Cincinnati, the US Open, Beijing, and finally Shanghai, which kicks off on October 7th. His next opportunity to return to action will be the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, scheduled for October 21st to 24th. (PRIMASPORT)
