LUDBREG – The Under 19 national team defeated their Turkish counterparts 3-0 in Ludbreg, on the second day of the friendly tournament scheduled in Croatia until October 4th. The Azzurrini broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute with Genoa midfielder Samuel Wiafe, before doubling the lead four minutes later (57th minute) thanks to Como full-back Ettore Broggian. Juventus winger Destiny Onoguekhan Elimoghale, born in 2009, sealed the 3-0 victory for Italy in the 64th minute, coming on at half-time for Bari striker Mattia Esposito, on loan from Napoli. With this result, Massimiliano Favo's boys remain in first place in the standings, with a perfect record of six points, after beating France in the 57th minute. 2-1 on Friday's debut.
“"We used a completely different starting eleven than the first match," the Italian coach emphasized, "because we wanted to assess the progress of the players we saw at their clubs. Some responded well, while others, understandably, are still learning what it means to play at an international level. In the first half, despite a few moments of difficulty, we held our own, then, in the second half, by also bringing in players who have already worked with this staff, everything clearly became easier. The result was solid, but, seeing how much we produced offensively, we could have even scored a few more goals.".
The Azzurrini will return to the field on Thursday 1 October (3:30 pm) in Dunjkovec to face hosts Croatia, who lost 2-1 to France this afternoon at the Stadion Hrašćica.
