Italy qualified for the semifinals of the pursuit at the Track Cycling World Championships

(PRIMASPORT) SHANGHAI – Italy is a key contender in the men's and women's team pursuit events at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Shanghai. The Italian quartet of Filippo Ganna, Jonathan Milan, Francesco Lamon, and Mattia Magagnotti qualified for the semifinals, finishing behind Denmark and Great Britain, and will face the British in the next round.

The women's team, made up of Elisa Balsamo, Martina Alzini, Martina Fidanza, and Vittoria Guazzini, also performed well. They finished third in qualifying and will now face Germany in an attempt to reach the final.

Despite this, Italy suffered a double elimination in the team sprint events: the men's team of Matteo Bianchi, Filippo Cusumano, and Mattia Predomo finished tenth, failing to advance to the next round, while the women's team of Rachele Barbieri, Matilde Cenci, and Miriam Vece finished sixteenth, missing out on the competition.
