BAKU – At the end of the Baku Grand Prix, Ferrari's fifth consecutive race without a podium, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc commented on the difficulties encountered during the race in Azerbaijan, while Frederic Vasseur provided an analysis of the team's performance.
Hamilton, who finished sixth after being overtaken at the end by Kimi Antonelli, said on team radio: “We need to understand why we were so slow today. We had no grip and no front end. Overall, it wasn't a great weekend.”.
Even Leclerc, who started second and finished fourth after a very difficult race, acknowledged the car's weaknesses: “"We're lacking a bit of pace at the moment and are a bit too vulnerable on the straights. We did what we could, but there was little we could do to defend ourselves on the straights. Even on the corners, the others are now catching up. We need to work without waiting; we have to react.".
Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur commented on the difficult weekend: “We knew it would be difficult, but we expected better, given that we weren't bad on the flying lap. Maybe we could have fought with Red Bull, but instead we were always on the defensive. We had a difficult weekend; we could have done more. Of course, we gained points on the McLaren. Now we have some races ahead of us where the car will perform better.
