(PRIMASPORT) MADRID – Grant Forrest won the 99th edition of the Open de España presented by Madrid, a DP World Tour tournament played at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid. The Scottish golfer finished with a total of 270 (-14), scoring a thrilling birdie on the final hole and edging out Frenchman Victor Perez and Spaniard Eugenio Chacarra, both second with 271 (-13), by one stroke.

Forrest finished the tournament with a 70 (-1), marked by some difficult moments but capped off with three final birdies. This was his third career victory, which will guarantee him a spot in the upcoming major Masters and The Open.

Among the Italians, Stefano Mazzoli was the best, finishing 13th with a 276 (-8), while Francesco Molinari took 20th place with a 277 (-7) thanks to a final round of 66 shots. Other Italians competing were Francesco Laporta (32nd), Matteo Manassero (55th), Renato Paratore (64th), and Filippo Celli (68th). Gregorio De Leo and Guido Migliozzi, however, failed to make the cut.

The competition was also an important test for the Italians competing in the Race to Dubai, with Mazzoli, Molinari, and Laporta well-positioned to enter the playoffs at the end of the season. (PRIMASPORT)
